Let’s stop the fall!
The 2014 Romanian Gambling Conference took place under the patronage of the National Gambling Office
On March 26, a beautiful warm and sunny spring day, Floreasca Club in Bucharest, located by the lake bearing the same name, hosted the third edition of the Romanian Gambling Conference. The event, organized by Casino Life & Business Magazine, the first publication on the gambling industry in Romania, adopted the same slogan as last year, ‚Let’s stop the fall!’
While focusing on the importance of the event, this third edition of the Conference took place under the auspices of the National Gambling Office, which also celebrated one year of existence. For a maximum efficiency, four plenary sessions and an official dinner were scheduled during only one day.
The agenda of the conference included, besides the opening and the closing plenary sessions, two more separate sessions: one targeting the most sensitive area in the market – Legislation and another one focused on Image, Social Responsibility and Responsible Gambling.
During the event, the moderators Dan Octavian Nicolaie, economic editor for Bursa newspaper and Constantin Opris, TV producer for The Money Channel, gave the floor to the guests who delivered presentations that arose a great interest among the participants.
The names of the speakers were as such: Mihnea Paul Popescu – President of Casino Life & Business Magazine, Odeta Nestor – President of the National Gambling Office, Irina Siminenco – General Manager ROMSLOT, Cristian Pascu – Executive Manager at AOPJNR, Ovidiu Teci – President of EXPROGAME, Claudiu Scarlatache – Deputy Director of the Fraud Investigation Unit within IGPR, Sarmiza Maria Fetcu – Spokesperson of the Anti-corruption General Unit, Gabriel Gheorghe – Vice-president for the National Gambling Office, Sorin Constantinescu – President of the Casino Organizers Association and PokerFest, Cristian Costea – Partner for SCPA Bostina and Associates, Marius Alexandru Dunca – President of the National Authority for Consumer Protection, Dragos Buriu – General Director for Almacrux Production, Leliana Parvulescu – Coordinator of the ‚Responsible Gambling’ and President of “ZIVAC”, Ana-Maria Lepadat – Psychologist for the Commission of Disabled People Evaluation and M Service Therapy Children Clinic, Adrian Socaciu – President of Student Sport Association and Tiberiu Pintilie – Adventure Diplomacy Adventure.
The participants, in a number of over one hundred, representatives of the gambling world in our country and governmental officials, have discussed about all the elements involved in the Romanian Gambling Industry, starting with the latest in the legislation and the flaws in the system, going through slot rooms and casino life and getting to the most recent online gambling, monitoring systems or responsible gambling, CSR and image.
The Q&A sections were engaging, as the audience was very active and asked clear and relevant questions, a true sign that the Romanian gambling industry has reached a special maturity.
When the sessions ended, the rounds of applause proved that the purpose had been reached, to everyone’s satisfaction.
The lobby was a perfect place to host a micro-exhibition, so that the participants were given the opportunity to see the new monitoring system of Newton Slots and also an original catwalk presentation of office and casual outfits.
During the official dinner, the people present were able to attend an Italian wine tasting, which was a nice and natural completion to the busy agenda of the event.
The list of partners included great names in the gambling industry in Romania, such as DGL PRO, Newton Slots – traditional partners of the Casino Life & Business Magazine events – or Romanian Bookmakers, Tiger Security and EGO.
