The future of the Gam(bl)ing industry, where to?

“BUGSY Metaverse Experience Creator / Trader”, ready to change your life!

By Dan Ciobanu, Founder and CEO of Unigens

What will be and what will the future of the gambling industry look like? We often encounter, in various forms, this question. It is ubiquitous in the thinking of all managers. What book will follow, what number will appear, what option…
These dilemmas are the very engines that fuel and sustain our work. We may not be 100% sure of the answers, in such a short period of time, but, at the level of understanding the evolution of the main elements that influence this industry, we can say, with certainty, that the changes will be centered around the following questions:
How will the technology work?
What games will we talk about?
Speaking of players, who will they be?
Will the hybrid space be online or retail and where will it be located?
Basically, by analyzing them, we can almost visualize where this industry will be in the next 5 years. Of course, this point of view is based on a natural evolution, according to the trends studied in the last 20 years.
To a certain extent, those studies took into account the current socio-political and economic situation. Except for the occurrence of some critical events (act-of-God or major events), in the coming years, the gambling industry will be heavily influenced. Here are some of our predictions:

Technology: Devices will be small, powerful and cheap
The foundation of technology is hardware. Moore’s Law (investopdia.com, wikipedia.com, etc.) tells us that every two years the number of transistors on a microchip doubles and the cost of a computer halves. The consequences of this law (observed in the last 50 years) are only two: Increasing capacities (storage, speed, calculation) at the same time as reducing physical attributes (size, energy consumption) and increasing accessibility from a financial point of view.
Practically speaking, we will observe the extraordinary evolution of the devices that “present” reality to us: Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality (VR, AR, MR). They will keep getting smaller, stronger and cheaper. Of course, the same philosophy will be applied to classic devices (tablets, phones, PCs).
With the same coordinates, we can also analyze the evolution of communication channels. After the completion of 5G implementations, they will introduce the new 6G technology (already announced), both facilitating the concept of “ubiquitous connectivity/computing”, namely ubiquitous connection.
Web3 – the new Internet, Blockchain and Metaverse are concepts that in the next 5 years will be a regular part of our lives. Already, at the international level, different projects have started to appear, among the most promising being the one being developed by our group – BUGSY World Society.

Games. Bet on slots!
Cultural, demographic, social factors will continue to influence what and especially where they play. The result of the analysis of these factors will fall into the paradigms related to accessibility (financial, proximity/online/hybrid), trust and purpose (fun, profit, status). Slots will continue to increase market share.

Player Convergence: Two zones, one concept
From a demographic point of view, the dynamics of the phenomenon show us certain characteristics of those who become legally eligible to start operating in our industry.
We are talking about competitive spirit, gaming experience and digital social interaction. The process of players moving from the gaming area to the gambling area is supported by the concept that is already being promoted in both areas: Play-to-earn (which rewards players for different actions) and “skill-based rewarding” (which offers jackpots for achieving certain goals based on player skill).

The hybrid space and a Romanian patent: Remote Play
The first dice found are over 5,000 years old. The first slot machine dates back 127 years. Until the advent and development of technology, play was perceived as an activity that could be carried out exclusively in the physical proximity of the participants and the device, whatever it was.
Technology has given us the ability to interact in real time with people who are on the other side of the planet. The distance between two players has increased to the maximum. At the same time, it began to offer the possibility of remote interaction with the means of the game. Financial analyzes show us the clear preference of people to participate in those activities in which the game medium exists in reality, to the detriment of the simulated ones (see roulette).
Today, there are 3 types of operations: retail (landbased), online and remote (remote), with the latter having the chance to develop the most, especially due to the increase in the number of types of games that can be controlled remotely. The key point is even a Romanian patent, Remote Play, which allows the operation of slot machines from distance.

A complicated process, from the legal point of view
None of the aforementioned trends will actually materialize right…tomorrow, but it will definitely (from our point of view) get there. Adapting current businesses to new trends is in itself a long-term process, complicated sometimes even from a legal point of view, with a wide variety from a jurisdictional point of view. It is, however, a mandatory process, of the type “the most adapted survives”, Charles Darwin said…
Our group of companies, Unigens / Remote2All / BUGSY World Society has extensive international experience in the development of management and marketing systems, technologies and innovations in the field of gambling. In 2021, we managed to obtain a patent for remote gaming exploitation, and we are currently in the process of building the largest Metaverse dedicated to digital experiences based on game media and physical devices.
We are discussing a web3 project, with its own token, open to any entrepreneur who wants to develop a business in the digital space and become a “BUGSY Metaverse Experience Creator / Trader” and promote their brand in the environment of the future. For now, we’ll keep you in suspense. As with any “revolution”… we’ll get back to you in detail!
