First PokerFest tournament in 2013, a real feast
The first tournament in the third PokerFest season took place between 11 and 17 of February in Bucharest, hosted by the Iridium Hall at Howard-Johnson Hotel.
The event was a true celebration of the poker, with three super-satellites, the main event, three side events, the traditional Press Cup and a great match game between two female stars, Gina Pistol and Liz Lieu.
Marian Mitran, the Main Event winner
A number of 303 players registered for the event and engaged in the competition for the PokerFest Cup and for the big prize of €51,200.
The winner was Marian Mitran. A detail, not at all insignificant, is that he was the only player at the final table who never claimed to be a professional player. His opponents included powerful players such as Narcis Olaru and Dan Murariu.
A new wow for the double PokerFest champion
We should notice that Robert Cezarescu won a side event. Last year, he is the one who set up a record for the local poker.
Robert Cezărescu became the first back-to-back Romanian PokerFest champion. In April 2012, he won the Main Event in Piatra Neamt and in December he did it again at PokerFest Brasov. ‚In 2013, I really wish for an international win. This is I have been waiting for many years, one final table at least… As for PokerFest, to do it over again, if possible’, said Robert Cezarescu in a recent interview.
Ramona Lupu, a winner among ladies
As many of you remember, Sorin Constantinescu, PokerFest President, has announced in an exclusive interview to our publication, ‚Casino Life & Business Magazine’ that the Bucharest leg would include an all-women tournament. It is a premiere for the third PokerFest. Ladies’ Event is the first tournament ever, meant for the women in Romania. The buy-in was €100 and had 17 players registered for the event. The winner was Ramona Lupu, who win at heads-up against the more seasoned player Carmen Zainescu. Delia Iuga placed on the third. The winner left with a €850 check, while the second and third places cashed 500 and 350, respectively.
The divas’ duel
The sensual blonde Gina Pistol triumphed over Liz Lieu. The Romanian is a recently appointed media ambassador for PokerFest. Liz Lieu is a professional poker player from Vietnam, who has an incredible record. She has been in the poker world for over 20 years and collected a quite nice amount of more than one million dollars.
Gina Pistol went into heads-up and won, thus she will be in London. The former ‚Playboy’ girl will play in all the PokerFest circuit legs.
‚The tournament was perfect, like no many others – a very sincere opinion, otherwise I would have kept mum about it’, said the famous player Liz Lieu.
The next PokerFest festival will be in Cluj, between 11 and 15 of March.
