Cristian-Gabriel Pascu, appointed Vice President with the rank of Secretary of State, at ONJN
The day of Monday, April 1st, 2024, arrived with a significant surprise to the gambling industry in Romania. The decision to appoint Cristian-Gabriel Pascu as the new Vice President of ONJN was published in the Romanian Publishing House. Cristian-Gabriel Pascu will replace Silviu Pocora.
Pocora was appointed Vice President of ONJN in February 2022 by the decision of the then Prime Minister, Nicolae Ciucă. Pocora had also served as Deputy Director General within the same authority. Before reaching such high ranks, he had led the ONJN Southeast Regional Service.
The remarkable character of the change is undeniable, and the decision signed by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu is expected to be one whose consequences will be positive for the industry. Cristian-Gabriel Pascu has shown a willingness to maintain effective communication with prominent members of the industry.
During the 11th edition of Exact Time in Gambling, Cristian Pascu, the namesake of the new Vice President, called for unity and cooperation in the context of legislative changes threatening to impact the industry, especially the 1 million euro guarantee imposed on all operators. Silviu Pocora was absent from the same event without justification, as was the ONJN President, Gabriel Gheorghe.
