A show in the city of luxury and excess
The city of Las Vegas is a huge entertainment park where money can buy you all the pleasures. One of the main attractions is the famous Cirque du Soleil that presents shows in the far-famed American city.
Cirque du Soleil, the company that changed the meaning of the circus to art, has seven permanent shows in Las Vegas. The enchanted games of lights and acrobatics have turned this phenomenon into the highest successful event of this kind in the world. The list of the shows includes ‚Love’, performed to the music of the legendary British band ‚Beatles’ and run more times in a week in a 2,000-seat hall. Also, the acrobats and artists of Cirque du Soleil enjoy the music of Elvis and Michael Jackson.
‚O’, a permanent show at Bellagio
Since 1998, ‚O’ has been running at Bellagio Theatre within Mirage Resort. ‚O’ is one of the most appreciated and popular productions of Cirque du Soleil, a mix of water acrobatics, syncronized swimming and many others. The live music, the artists performance and acrobatics are the ingredients that keep the audience, young and old, on the edge of their seats and gather them from all the corners in the world.
Shows in the City of lights
Guy Laliberte, the company founder – today, a wealthy magnate – was the one to decide to have the most famous circus shows in history performed in the city of lights, Las Vegas – ‚Mystery, ‚Saltimbanco’, ‚Alegria’, ‚Quidam’, ‚O’, ‚La Nouba’ or ‚Dralion’.
It has been estimated that a number of over 40 million people attended the Cirque du Soleil shows in the last 10 years, only in Las Vegas. The success is visible in the company’s turnover – the net worth of Cirque du Soleil has reached over 1 billion dollars in 2011.
From a slow start to stars
Back in 1984, it all started with a group of 20 street artists. Today, Cirque du Soleil is a major company, located in Quebec, a mark of high class entertainment. At first, the company did not have any profit whatsoever, but it had the opportunity to be granted $1.5 millions from the Canadian government to start a show. And fame was just round the corner. An important stage in its history was when Franco Dragone, producer and director, was recruited to join them. He brought in the concepts of the best shows and put the company in the black. Cirque du Soleil employs 5,000 people, where 1,300 are artists from 50 countries. A number of over 100 million people in almost 300 cities on six continents have been so far fascinated by the engaging and elegant shows performed by Cirque du Soleil.
