Aged 79, the American Doyle Brunson will be able to recover, as the tumor is in an incipient stage. The legendary poker player has been diagnosed with cancer three other times in the last years, but he has cheated death so far. Everyone encourages Doyle through this less happy period of his life and he is confident in his future, in spite of what doctors say.
A wonderful career
Doyle Brunson has been playing poker – successfully – for 50 years. Along his career, he won ten WSOP bracelets and over USD6 millions in prizes. The year of 1978 was when Doyle changed the poker world after publishing the ‚Super System’ book, known as the ‚Poker bible’. This volume has been the first guide of how poker should be played to win.
Family dramas
In 1960, Brunson met his future wife, Louise, whom he married two years later. The same year, while she was pregnant, Doyle was diagnosed with cancer and told that he would only have a few months to live. He underwent a surgery and cured miraculously. One year after that, it was his wife to go through the same ordeal and came back to the same ending. The American player had three children. Doyla passed away at the age of 18, due to some heart complications. Todd became a professional poker player and Pamela is a random player. In 2007, she went beyond expectations, getting better results than her father and brother.
