The Central European Gambling Summit 2024 has been canceled

The 12th edition of the Central European Gambling Summit (CEGS) has been canceled. The event was scheduled for mid-May and, like in previous years, was supposed to gather dozens of participants and speakers from multiple countries. The reasons for canceling CEGS 2024 are manifold.

The primary factor that led to the cancellation of one of the most anticipated events of the year in the gambling industry in Romania and beyond consists of a devastating combination of decisions and indecisions.

First and foremost, there is the “Slot Machines Law,” through which Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu destroyed the land-based gambling industry. Then, there is also the inconsistency in decision-making by the ONJN.

Due to their attitude, the governors and those who should manage the industry have created disturbances in the market. The consequences are unforeseen, and some devastating effects are already here. We are talking about unemployment and the destruction of the economy horizontally.

To these reasons are added medical problems, as well as other objective causes that have led us to make the difficult decision to cancel CEGS 2024. Hoping things get better by next year, we look forward to seeing each other again in 2025 at the 12th edition of the Central European Gambling Summit.
