Swedes, the Swedish gaming authority, the Spelinspektionen, has surveyed the online gaming habits of its citizens, examining responses from 3,000 people.
The survey shows the main reasons for choosing gaming sites with a Swedish gaming licence – and they turn out to be security, safety and control.
The survey also showed that seven per cent of Swedes who play online at least once a quarter say that they used a site that did not have a Swedish licence.
Poker and online casino are the most popular among players for illegal sites and 12 per cent said that they have no idea whether the site they use has a licence at all.
The most common reason for using the sites that do not have a Swedish licence are that they offer different winning opportunities and bonus offers.
On July 6, Sweden’s Gaming Inspectorate (Spelinspektionen) has issued warnings to two licensees regarding breaches of regulations around the display of information.
According to Spelinspektionen, Multilotto operator Multi Brand Gaming Ltd breached section 17 of the Spelinspektionen’s guidelines and regulations on gaming, by not including information about deposit limits, self-exclusion features and play time information on the logout sections of its mobile and desktop website.
