Constanta Casino is one step closer to reopening

The Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration has announced that the reception process has been started upon the completion of the rehabilitation works at this iconic Romanian building.

“The work was started in 2020, implemented and completed by each succeeding Government, including in my first term as Minister of Development, and now it will be finalized. It is an important investment, carried out with attention to detail, which embodies cooperation, regardless of political color, for the good of Romania,” said Development Minister Cseke Attila.

“We are restoring the Casino to Constanta and Romania in its entire early 20th century splendor,” the minister added.

According to Mediafax, the rehabilitation of the Casino was financed from the state budget, implemented by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, through the National Investment Company.

The acceptance process is expected to be finalized in the first half of February, after the works have been checked, the refurbished installations have been tested and the staffs who will maintain the building and its technical systems have been trained.

The Constanta Casino was designed by architect Daniel Renard in Art Nouveau style. The birth certificate of the emblematic building is a contract signed on July 23, 1903 by the liberal mayor Cristea Georgescu with the architect Daniel Renard for the design of the new Casino.
