What was the first time you heard about the contact sports, how old were you?
I was eleven and my parents took me to a Kickboxing class. When I walked in there, I instantly knew that is was perfect for my personality and stamina.
How did you choose the MMA?
After going from one contact sport to another (free fighting, wushu, boxing, K1), experience showed me that MMA was the best match for my physical qualities.
When was your debut in the contact sports? How did the first match go and what was your feeling?
The first Kickboxing competition I took part in was a local one, in Bucharest. I was quite nervous, but I managed to get over it and keep my focus. I finished on the second place but I was thrilled. I went out with my peers to celebrate and, of course, the only thing we drank was some juice.
What are your plans for this year in terms of your profession?
My goal is to fight against the +95kg champion, Cristian Mitrea, and defeat him.
How long have you been fighting in the professional contact sports for?
I started as a professional in 2005, when I was 18 and among the youngest in this sport.
What is the game that is sticking with your mind and soul?
The most intense match that I was so close to win was against Carter Williams. Even to this day, I immensely regret that I did not.
What do you think when people acknowledge your value, the public applauds you?
I am a humble and simple person, this is not what I would be thinking about. But I believe that people like what they see if they are clapping for me during the match.
What is the toughest opponent you have so far met and who is the one you would like to fight against?
The strongest rival is always the one coming after a victory. I do respect all my opponents and handle all the games the same.
Have you ever considered leaving Romania for another country?
No, never, because I am still bound up with my friends.
How do you get along with coach Alin Panaite? What about the others at Respect Gym?
I am in excellent terms with both my coach and also my peers.
