How did you find Romania at your first visit and how do you find it now after you got to know better our country?

I have been visiting Romania for business for the last ten years. Romania is a market with organic growth. Besides the recession visible in all European markets, Romania will not have a rapid growth the following years. This is supported by the fact that has not adapted the euro yet. The government is capable at maneuvering its fiscal policies.

From your point of view which are the legal issues in Romania regarding online gaming and online gambling?

The legislation is completed but the technical requirements are not issued yet making it impossible to acquire a Romanian license. Consequently Romania cannot have tax revenues from the gaming activity.

Which are the future plans of bwin.party group for the Romanian market and for the rest world?

Bwin.party’s strategy concerning target markets has 2 pillars, regulated European markets and United States. The recourses of the company are focusing on achieving those objectives. Dot.com markets including Romania are not a primary focus due to the legal uncertainty. A proper regulation of those markets will open the door for deployment of our resources.

What do you think about poker clubs launched in Romania? Do poker clubs have any influence on online poker activity?

I believe that poker clubs play a significant role to the development of this sport in the market. Online gaming and offline clubs are not competitive but rather complement each other and they have areas that they can join forces on providing a premium poker plane experience.

What about land based betting shops? Do they have any influence on online betting?

Online sports betting and betting shops/offline differ significantly in terms of services and player experience. Mostly they are track different clients.

Can you give us a message for the readers of our publication, Casino Life & Business Magazine?

I would say them good luck on their gaming experience either online or offline and as a word of advice play reasonably and ensure that gaming remains a fun and entertaining part of their lives.

How is a normal day in your life?

My business schedule is always too heavy and busy and this demands a lot of working hours. That’s why I would say that a normal day in my life is either traveling for my business meetings or being at the office and working.

What about your hobbies?

I like traveling in different places all over the world. Besides I love sports. I do a lot of skiing and wakeboarding.
