Cosmopolitan

Cosmopolitan casino in Las Vegas has promised to pay $1m in cash bonuses to employees who receive their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine by May 1.

Las Vegas casinos are urging staff to get vaccinated after the Nevada Gaming Board said that casinos will not be allowed to reopen at 100 per cent capacity unless the majority of employees have received the vaccine.

In order to comply, the Cosmopolitan hotel and casino has committed to paying up to $1m in cash bonuses if 80 per cent of its workforce receives their first dose by May 1.

The company said in a statement to employees: “In response to the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s clear direction to gaming companies to accelerate the vaccination of its workforce, effective April 13, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will launch the next phase of its Covid-19 vaccination plan as a continuation of the resort’s ongoing health and safety measures.
To incentivize employees to receive the vaccine as soon as possible, the resort will commit to pay upwards of US$1M in total cash bonuses should 80 per cent of the workforce receive their first dose by May 1.

Employees who have yet to receive the vaccine are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the resort’s free onsite vaccination clinic. Employees who choose not to get the vaccine will be required to test weekly”.

Wynn Resorts requires vaccination

Wynn Resorts has also asked its staff to receive vaccination. According to Wynn, about 60 per cent of its employees have already been vaccinated.

Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddox said in a statement: “Our primary goal is to create the safest possible environment at Wynn, for both employees and guests.
Vaccination rates are increasing throughout the country, and requiring our employees to either be vaccinated or tested on a weekly basis will make Wynn one of the safest vacation destinations in the US.”
