Wynn Resorts

Wynn Resorts, the casino giant, after an aborted plan to build a beach resort named Paradise Park Lagoon in 2018, is still intent on opening its first location in the United Arab Emirates.

The company now plans to build a multi-billion dollar beach resort with gaming facilities at ASl Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates making up the country.

It will be the first time that legalised gambling has been permitted in the UAE. However, Caesars does have its Caesars Palace Dubai complex that does not have any gambling facilities.

In a statement the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism and Development Authority has confirmed that the department of entertainment and gaming regulation “will oversee hotel operations, convention space, entertainment, restaurants and lounges, spa, retail and gaming facilities.”

The RAKTDA went on to say that its objective was “to create a robust framework that will ensure responsible gaming at all levels.”

The project will cost in the region of $2bn and is scheduled to open in 2026. Marjan Island is actually four islands and is a tourist destination with a marina.

The Wynn plans include an hotel with over 1,000 bedrooms, premium shopping centre and convention space, plus a spa, restaurants and lounges.
