Operatorii de cazinouri UK casino operators

UK casino operators such as Genting and Rank Group are in discussion on whether to close all their operations in the face of the growing crisis in the country with the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

The iGaming Post has been told by several sources connected to both companies that senior management from both operators are in discussions on when not if to unilaterally close their casinos.

It is understood both operators have staff who are currently self-isolating and with the government advising the nation to avoid bars and restaurants the impact on the casino sector is now taking its toll.

According to our sources casinos are still do have gamblers although numbers are down, however both operators know that it is only a matter of time when the government call time on non-essential activities such as land based gambling.

It is understood that the discussions between the UK casino operators are in advanced stages and believe it could be as early as this weekend both decide to close at the same time.

Genting has 43 casinos in the UK and Rank operates a total of 144 locations including bingos which will certainly close also.

So far it is not clear if Aspers which is the third largest operator behind Genting and Rank are in those discussions and if they have any current plans to shutter their businesses.

Closure would mean great uncertainty for all staff in an industry that already struggles to compete with the online casino business and the closure of all operations which we understand could cost operators in the region of £10 million a week whether once the virus outbreak in finished would be able to open all their operations again.
