Casino Life & Business Magazine editorial

Hardly are the echoes of the special edition of the 5th Romanian Gambling Conference out, that there are a lot of monitoring systems available on the market already.

This is a normal thing to happen, considering the new regulations of the gambling industry in our country and, most of all, the decision of the National Office for Gambling (ONJN) to eliminate the black market in this sector.

Of course the market is invaded by all types of monitoring systems offers, some more simple, some more complex, some cheaper, some more expensive, some more or less stable, some made locally, others by big international companies, as it is only normal on a liberal and competitive market, but, one thing is sure, they must all meet the requirements in the new legislation.

The deadline for acquiring the monitoring systems, as established by the ONJN for all operators, being very tight – the end of the current year – doesn’t give much moving space and thos involved in the market know this, therefore the battle for winning customers has started.
Surely operators are stunned by the large number of offers, but it is very likely, in the “Romanian way”, that some might make a “pickle bill” out of this obligation and want to acquire such systems (a fact not at all to their advantage on the long term) only for the eyes of the ONJN, but very cheap ones.

All operators must be aware that acquiring a viable and reliable monitoring system is a matter which must be seen as an investment on the long term, and, expensive as it might be, a very beneficial one. Furthermore, cheap is almost never a synonym for quality…

We are too poor to buy cheap things!
