A record audience at a contact sports event

The Local Kombat Bodyguard Final – The Special Forces in Craiova had a record number of spectators at a contact sports event, for the last 20 years. With almost 15,000 people present in the Ion Oblemenco arena, the gala outdid the ‚Champion for Romania’ last year, when 10,000 fans attended the Lucian Bute – Jean-Paul Mendy game.

The first gala in the history of Romania to take place on an arena managed to rekindle the spirit of the Oltenians for sport – after a long time, the fans came back to ‚Ion Oblemenco’.

A total of 10 matches were played, including the four finals of the pre-selection show for the Superkombat world circuit and the one for WAKO Pro Intercontinental title. Besides the great success obtained by Ionuţ ‚Pitbull’ Atodiresei, other five Romanian sportsmen shared his feelings – Alexandru Nedelcu, Gabriel Flutur, Dănut Hurduc, Răzvan Ghită and Răzvan Benche, as each one won a spot in the Superkombat world circuit.

Even though Danut Hurduc lost the 95 kg final, promoter Eduard Irimia said that he would be given a wild card – which means that Mihai Constantin’s student will be fighting in the circuit that will be broadcast in 75 countries on four continents.

‚All five will have the opportunity to prove what they are made of, in an event that will be watched by half of the earth population (via Eurosport channel). Benche has already debuted in Cluj, but now he will also be fighting in the Superkombat’, added Irimia.
