Park Lane Casino from London Mayfair, operated by Silverbond Enterprises Ltd is the first Casino in the UK to have its’ licence revoked by the UK Gambling Commission.
The UK Gambling Commission has revoked the operating licence of Silverbond Enterprises Ltd who operates the Park Lane Casino in London Mayfair which, subject to appeal, takes effect on 18 November 2020.
The owner, former politician and Latvian businessman Vasilijs Melniks had all assets frozen by the Ukrainian authorities in 2018 for a $144 million money laundering probe.
His Mayfair club, opened in 2014, was one of those assets frozen. In order to wiggle out of the chance of losing its licence, the high roller casino was sold on to a Swiss banker but the origin of funds for the sale was never produced and the club faced a $2million fine for regulatory breaches.
The UK Gambling Commission revoked the licence stating that apart from the absence of proof of funds for the acquisition of the club, the new owner also did not meet expectations of a licence holder and to whom future profits of the Licensee would be paid.
The UKGC also identified concerns with the suitability of the new controller of the casino because of its unsatisfactory history in providing information requested as part of our enquiries.
