Massachusetts Gaming Commission has voted to remove remaining restrictions and allow casinos to resume full operations from the weekend.
Covid-19 restrictions are coming to an end on most of the US and Massachusetts casinos are following suit from this weekend.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) voted 4-0 this week to remove all remaining restrictions for the gaming segment.
Massachusetts Gaming Commission Chairwoman Cathy Judd-Stein said on Wednesday: “I wish you great luck over the course of this big weekend.
“Most of all, we can all pause and reflect on the losses that occurred the last 15 months. They’ve been enormous across the country, around the world and here in Massachusetts.”
Gov. Charlie Baker allowed most businesses to open back up last Saturday. However, gaming venues are under MGC rules, which is why they needed a further vote before getting clearance.
Commissioners decided to lift restrictions as they were comfortable with the plans presented on Wednesday.
“I’m generally satisfied with relaxing the restrictions at the casinos,” Commissioner Enrique Zuniga said. “I think that the plans are very appropriate.”
