The Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) has suspended the licence of Casino di Venezia in Vittoriosa due to non-adherence of its conditions, according to the Parliamentary Secretary for Competitiveness Edward Zammit Lewis.
Speaking for timesofmalta.com, Edward Zammit Lewis said 85 employees were facing job uncertainty after the casino failed to comply with its stipulated conditions due to losses it has been making since the end of 2011.
He explained that the financial problems of the company had led to non-adherence of its licence conditions and the LGA had followed the law by issuing a suspension notice.
“This is a problem we inherited and has been coming for years,” Edward Zammit Lewis said, adding that the Government was committed to safeguarding jobs and boosting the casino industry
