The current rise in Bitcoin has now reached Las Vegas with two casinos now accepting Bitcoins for payment in their gift shops, restaurants and hotel front desks.
The D Casino and the Golden Gate will start accepting payments from Bitcoins from Wednesday 22nd January but is not allowing the use of the online currency on the casino floor at present.
The co-owner of the D Casino and the Golden Gate, Derek Stevens, says he’s been intrigued by the currency for years and had talked with patrons who wondered if the casinos would use it.
Stevens says it’s tough to forecast how many patrons will pay for their rooms and dinners with Bitcoin, but he predicts other casinos will start adopting it in the future.
Currently one Bitcoin is valued at $956 and many online gaming operators are already accepting the currency.
