The story about one of the best
Jake Cody is from Rochdale, UK, and learnt how to play poker at home, with his friends. That was the best way for him to get the hang of it quickly. As a teenager, Jake was making enough Money from poker to become a profesional. Today, he is not only one of the most succesful poker player in his country but worldwide.
He is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online under name of ‘jakecody’. Since 2009, when he joined the circuit, he has had major wins of over 3 million dollars from live tournaments, plus other thousand hundreds from the online games.
He started climbing the ranks in November 2009, when he placed second in a 6-Max event of USD1,060 during Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS). Then, in January 2010, Jake joined the big league, after winning $1.213.194 at the Deauville Main Event at the European Poker Tour (EPT). A few more great titles followed, which helped Jake pair up with the great players in the United Kingdom.
A chain of victories
In August 2010, he belted the World Poker Tour title in London and $425,492. Then, he won $234,738 in a No Limit Hold’em USD2,100 event at PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) 2011. But he did not stop there. In June, Jake travelled to Las Vegas where he played heads-up with the champions and received his first WSOP bracelet. He pocketed $851,192, but more importantly he completed the Triple Crown, made up of three titles – EPT, WPT and World Series. He had a miss at the end of 2011, during the Main Event of WSOP Europe*, where he placed on the seventh and left with $200,379.
Right now, Jake aims to become the first back-to-back EPT winner and he was very closet to this target in 2013, when he finished the fifth in the Grand Finale EPT Main Event PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino, which came with a $329,124 prize.
When PokerStars launched a poker live room in London, 2013, the winner of the first major event could not be anyone but Jake Cody. He swept the UKIPT 1 Series title and $29,798.
