Betting affiliate predicts major gains this Autumn and lead generation company Leadstar Media has got plenty of reason to feel positive about the future and here’s why.
It has been a tumultuous and uncertain year for many in the iGaming industry, but lead generation company Leadstar Media has got plenty of reason to feel positive about the future and here’s why.
A short summer break
Football is without a doubt the world’s most popular sport, and with global interest it’s no surprise that the closure of a number of major leagues back in the spring set ripples across the online gaming industry.
What followed was an uneasy period for many, with the postponement and even early closure of some football leagues, threatening to hit the industry hard.
Football made its comeback, the biggest of which saw the late surge of Premier League fixtures and even the fulfillment of the Champions League in late August.
Data from the UK Gambling Commission published just last month revealed that there was an upturn in betting interest with the late return to the footballing calendar. Now with a short break of just two weeks between the end of the Champions League and the start of the Premier League can we really expect a similar surge in interest to continue?
Impact in actuality
Product Director at Leadstar Media Jacob Ljunggren retirated how the effect of the football calendar had a significant impact on the traffic seen visiting Leadstar Media sites, tying in with the data published out of the UK.
“One of our main English language sites BookiesBonuses.com pulls in a lot of UK traffic and we saw similar trends to the data just emerging from the UK market,” states Ljunggren.
“The absence of football saw a significant downturn in traffic to a number of our sites in a period where traditionally it is one of our busiest, barring years where a major national tournament such as a World Cup takes place.”
“As the major football leagues started to see a return to action we recorded a significant surge in traffic throughout the late spring and summer, not just to our UK-focused products, but across many of our markets around the world,” furthers Ljunggren.
Upturn in casino traffic
One area in particular that has borne fruit for the betting affiliate was in online casino, notes Ljunggren. “In addition to our sports betting sites, we also operate a number of products geared toward online casino related content, and we found these sites experienced a boost in visitors when there was a lack of live sporting events available”.
“It’s a trend that has continued and has led us to look towards where we can continue to make significant improvements in our casino related products for our users”.
A busy Autumn ahead
With such a short break in the football calendar there have been some concerns that sports betting enthusiasts, particularly those interested in football, might have reached their saturation point but Leadstar’s Product Director feels undeterred.
“I understand the logic behind it, but there will always be a significant interest in the major European football leagues, which haven’t actually been in action for over a month now”.
“Although we’ve had a quieter couple of weeks at the moment, we’re predicting heightened interest, and the high intention traffic that comes with it – as soon as the domestic football season gets going”, continues Ljunggren.
The return of the Indian Premier League, cricket’s most popular tournament, which will run over September to November is also seen as a major boost for the company. The IPL is known to pull in viewers in the tens of millions in India, but also globally.
“It’s no secret that the Indian market has long garnered interest for us. In fact Leadstar Media currently operates across a variety of countries, but the interest in the IPL and IPL betting is really something else. We’re looking forward to seeing what impact it will have one our India-focused sites”.
As we head towards the final quarter of what has been a difficult and uncertain time for many, there looks to be plenty of reasons the iGaming can feel positive towards in the coming months, none more so than those over at Leadstar Media.
