In the midst of what has become the longest casino strike in Atlantic City history, the Trump Taj Mahal—owned by billionaire Carl Icahn’s Tropicana Entertainment—announced it will close down October 10, 2016.
It’s the first Atlantic City casino to close since 2014, when four other casinos shut down.
Tropicana Entertainment blamed the city’s largest casino union for the scheduled closing by refusing to accept concessions on employee health benefits.
About 3,000 jobs will be lost.
