In September, Rombet association was present, both nationally and abroad, by participating in four major events for our industry.
The beginning of the month was marked by the presence, as a partner, at the Entertainment Arena Expo and the organization of the “Exact Time in Gambling” conference, while during the second half of the month Rombet represented its members in London, at the World Regulatory Briefing event and then at Betting on Sports. The series of events in September was closed by the one in Budapest, where another successful edition of the Central and Eastern European Gaming Conference took place.
“Autumn started with four events, so four important participations for Rombet and our members. In recent years, our presence at these far-reaching conferences has already become a tradition. Both the topics approached and the speakers’ presentations were extremely interesting, focused on innovation, especially with regard to the online environment, new legislative initiatives, and many examples of Responsible Gambling projects coming directly from the operators”, commented Mr. Dan Alexandru Ghită, president of Rombet.
At the annual Entertainment Arena Expo, which took place between September 4-6th, in Bucharest, the Rombet stand enjoyed a large number of visitors, where the representatives of the association gladly welcomed the intentions of established companies from both our country as well as from the European area – especially from the Balkans – to become members of the association. During the “Exact Time in Gambling” conference, moderated by Rombet’s CEO Bogdan Coman, the participants had the opportunity to learn new ideas and exchange ideas along with some of the big names in the field. In addition, the main technical section of the event was supported by Rombet Vice President, Mr. Anchidim Zăgrean, under the title “Organization and control of gambling – consequences of non-compliance.”
“So far, the main focus of regulatory talks has been to make sure that the rules are well understood to be properly applied. Now, we are at a time when we need to know the consequences we are exposed to if we do not respect the regulations. The conference during E Arena conference was a good opportunity to open this discussion, which will continue at the next seminars which Rombet will support at the national level by the end of the year, Mr. Zagrean said.
The second half of the month kicked off international events for Rombet representatives. The first of these was World Regulatory Briefing, a conference organized by Clarion Events on September 12th in London, dedicated to the subject of the Responsible Gambling. As in previous years, speakers from both the UK Gambling Commission and the gambling industry, such as Betsson, Betway, Skybet or Mr. Green, attended the talks. From discussions on self-exclusion systems in different European countries to examples of successful projects, legislative initiatives or new communication directions of Responsible Gambling and Corporate Social Responsibility projects, all have been the body of an extremely rich agenda, useful for WrB participants.
Immediately after WrB, also in London, Betting on Sports opened its doors, the biggest sports gambling event in Europe. Organized by Rombet partner, SBC Events, inside the prestigious Olympia Conference Center, the event brought together more than 1,200 high-level delegates and more than 180 guests who gave very interesting presentations in the panels that constituted the conference agenda. The trading directors, the department which is the heart of the betting activity, had the opportunity to discuss the priorities of their business, the profitability and the motivation of the subordinate teams.
Issues such as recommended changes for marketing department structures, long-term policy between affiliates and operators, or online gambling and exponential growth expectations of this sector were also topics on the agenda.
From London, Mr. Bogdan Coman, CEO of Rombet, who represented the association at both events, went to Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, where from September 19th to 20th took place the second edition of Central and Eastern European Gaming Conference (CEEGC).
At this event, organized by Rombet partner, EEGEvents, Mr.
Bogdan Coman moderated one of the panels, entitled “Gambling Opportunities in the Balkans”, which hosted Mirjana Acimovic (Jakta & Euromat) and Hrvoje Vincetic (Casino Adriatic). The two speakers discussed extensively about the prospects of the gambling industry in Serbia and Croatia. Also, within the CEEGC, the prestigious prizes for the most important achievements in the field of gambling were awarded, and among the winners there are also two representatives of our country. Superbet sports betting company, a member of Rombet, won the title of “Best Gambling Operator in the Region”, and Casino Life & Business Magazine won the award for the “Best MEdia Gambling Company “.
“For Rombet, the fact that we had the opportunity to participate in a very short time, in four major industry events, three of which took place abroad, is a way to achieve two of our association’s goals. On the one hand, we ensure the visibility of the industry in our country and, implicitly, of our members as well as our international representatives and, on the other hand, we offer our members the opportunity to receive directly and quickly the most important information at European level so that they can make the best decisions for their business. There you have some of the advantages of being a member of our association, “concluded Mr. Bogdan Coman, Rombet CEO.
