International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is celebrated by PokerStars with €11,500 in added value in live event packages and qualifiers.

Sunday is always the biggest day of the week for online poker tournaments and March 13th is set to be even more action-packed than usual to mark PokerStars’ celebration of International Women’s Day (March 8th).

To celebrate, this week’s PokerStars Women’s Sunday tournament will have more than €11,500 in live event packages and qualifier tickets added for the PokerStars community. On top of the usual prizepool, the top 20 will win:

1st – EPT Monte Carlo Main Event package (€8,500 – Buy-in €5,300, hotel €2,625, expenses €575
2nd – FPS Package (€2,800 – Buy-in €1,100, hotel €1,360, expenses €340)
3rd and 4th – €55 live event qualifier ticket
5th – 20th – €5.50 live event qualifier ticket

“We know our community are excited to get back to the live felt and that women’s qualifiers to live events are something our players tell us they would like to see,” said Rebecca McAdam Willetts, Associate Director of Consumer Engagement and Public Relations at PokerStars. “We’ve taken this on board and to celebrate International Women’s Day as one day in many where we want to engage and improve, we’ve given our female players an extra opportunity to win their way to one of our most loved events. Rewarding and giving opportunities to our communities is something we’re passionate about, and this is just one moment in which we plan to do so, with plenty more to come.”

The weekly $22 buy-in Women’s Sunday tournaments provide a platform for players wishing to play with other women in an accessible online women’s event. The Women’s Sunday takes place every week at 13:40ET on PokerStars.com, with late registration available for an hour and a half, and a number of satellites from just $0.22 taking place from Thursday to Sunday.

In addition, PokerStars Ambassador GJ Reggie will play and stream the event, and have a bounty on her head. The player who knocks her out will win a $215 ticket to the Sunday Million 16th Anniversary event, which takes place on March 20th with a $10 million guaranteed prizepool.

In previous years, PokerStars has celebrated and shone a light on women in poker and in the industry with various activities through special giveaways and unique content, and not just on International Women’s Day. Last year, PokerStars launched its ‘Our Voices’, a female insights community for all women in poker. Our Voices is a space where PokerStars directly encourages and engages in discussion on both female-focused and general topics, activities and ideas, and community members can now also read new exclusive interviews with GJ Reggie and Jennifer Shahade. In addition, following feedback on Our Voices and other channels the buy-in of the Women’s Sunday was lowered to $22.

PokerStars are committed to the growth of the game and to supporting women in poker, encouraging more to sit down and have fun at the tables, as well as ensuring women have a comfortable and safe place to play both live and online.
