GEFA 2023 highlights

GEFA 2023 took place in Morocco between March 8 and 9 and Casino Life & Business Magazine was the only media partner from Central and Eastren Europe.

On the bustling streets of historic Casablanca, Morocco, Gaming Event Francophone Africa’s (GEFA) inaugural event took place at the 5-star Casablanca Marriott Hotel. The event brought together international and local gaming providers, operators, and entrepreneurs. There is no doubt that it was the beginning of many a beautiful partnership between industry professionals. Attendees, in conjunction with the expert speakers, had opportunities to gain invaluable insights from panels and presentations, as well as capitalise on the numerous networking opportunities.

The Managing Director of Eventus International, Yudi Soetjiptadi commenced the long-awaited event. His exceptional opening on the industry’s potential and a warm welcome to the C-Level audience set the tone for the two-day event.

Day One

Day One introduced industry professionals with expertise in the Francophone African iGaming industry. CEO Jérôme-O Falcon of Moobifun presented “Getting to grips with developments, strategies and opportunities in the Moroccan gaming market” highlighting the untapped potential of gaming in Morocco and the importance of understanding the local audience.

Experienced panellists and moderators shared insights on untapped markets and key considerations for operators and stakeholders in the Francophone region, emphasizing the importance of understanding the local audience to access and adapt your brand to local markets.

The day finished with a flourish as the guests mingled together at the Networking Drinks in the Sofitel Hotel to build connections and grow their brands.

Day Two

The speakers at the event discussed various topics related to the gaming industry. One of the topics was the importance of having an independent regulator in the gaming industry, which was discussed in detail by the speakers.

Another important topic was SEO and its advantages in the gaming industry. Kasper Szymanski, an SEO expert, provided real-life examples of SEO disasters and how to avoid them. He emphasised the importance of correctly adding SEO to the audience’s websites. Marouane Rhafli, the CEO of Scrowp, discussed the untapped potential of correctly done SEO in iGaming and how it can increase the visibility of a business.

The first panel discussion of the afternoon focused on the topic of the co-existence of lotteries and sports betting. The panellists provided insights on how co-existing growth can benefit both industries.

Yudi Soetjiptadi closed the inaugural Gaming Event Francophone Africawith some insights into the future of iGaming in Francophone Africa. This sentiment echoes those of various iGaming experts in the region, iGaming has a long and fruitful future in Francophone Africa.
