Gaming Malta has launched a campaign dubbed “Why iGaming” in a bid to attract new talent to the expanding sector.

The island of Malta, a major hub for igaming in Europe, has launched a drive to draw new talent to the expanding sector.

Gaming Malta, the Maltese government’s non-profit promotional body, has teamed up with European trade body iGEN to launch the “Why iGaming” initiative in a bid to attract interest from potential new recruits.

The campaign has launched a website – www.whyigaming.eu – and will collaborate with iGEN’s 22 member companies to promote new roles in Malta.

The website, which has information about moving to Malta and the strengths of the industry, will be supported with a multinational campaign promoting relocation opportunities in Malta to work in the igaming industry.

Ivan Filletti, COO of GamingMalta, said: “This portal is in sync with our mission to position Malta as the home of gaming excellence. A home where talent succeeds and thrives.
An industry and igaming ecosystem which promotes equality and diversity in their working culture. Why iGaming will serve as a real-time showcase for the industry and the exciting opportunities which it offers.”

Malta’s latest employment statistics show that there are 7,000 full-time staff working in the industry on the island and a further 4,000 in ancillary roles.

iGEN said that research showed attractive salaries were drawing talent to igaming in Malta but that there was a perception that there were many barriers to entry.

iGen chairman, Enrico Bradamante, said: “Malta continues to be an extremely important hub for igaming.
Our vision is to provide a way for the biggest and most established igaming companies to connect with the local community and talent, in particular providing a resource to individuals who are interested in working in the sector.
Professionals can use our website to find out about our members, search for open roles and hear the truth about what it is like to work in the industry from a number of Maltese and foreign employees who work locally.
This is not only in order to help fill current roles such as entry-level roles, customer support, finance roles and other management and executives roles, but also future opportunities as the site will be constantly updated.”

Last month the Maltese and Dutch regulators entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on tackling illegal gambling.
