As news at present only seems to be of closures and lockdowns it comes as no surprise that now Cyprus has announced the closure of all the current satellite casinos operated by Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd.
The closure will last for a period of four weeks and will start immediately, Andy Choy, the chief operating officer for Melco Resorts International, said “In these challenging times that call for extreme measures, we rally behind the government of Cyprus and the actions implemented to curb the spread of Covid-19.” He went on to say: “We fully support the decision to temporarily suspend the operation of entertainment facilities across the country in the best interest of all. We are also standing alongside our local partners and the entire tourism industry who have prioritised the safety of their personnel and guests with the utmost responsibility to safeguard their health.”
Before the announcement to close the local government had capped a limit of only 75 people within the casino which included staff.
