Built in 1996, the location is the property of the Whitehall Street Real Estate Funds company. Starting with the 12th floor, the rooms are meant for the non-smokers. The highest tower
The Stratosphere Tower is the highest structure of this kind in Las Vegas. Besides its revolving restaurant, the building has a true amusement park on its roof, a true manna for those after wallops. Three spectacular machines are installed on the tower roof: Big hot, Insanity-The Ride and X-Scream.
Thus, on a 270 meter-high platform, there is a device in the shape of an octopus, Insanity-The Ride,
which spins at a high speed; the centrifugal force make the mechanism open towards the exterior, at an angle of 70 degrees. The octopus rotation speed is 64.37 km/hr, so it is not an option for the people with weak hearts. On the same platform in the Stratosphere tower, we have a montagne-russe, X-Scream, whose rail is dangling outside the building with 8 meters, giving the riders the impression that they are being dropped.
At 80 km/h in the elevator
The third impressive mechanism at the Stratosphere, hotel-casino in Las Vegas, is the Big Shot elevator, starting from the 270-meter high platform to the top floors of the tower (350 meters) – this one goes up the down the 80-meter distance at a speed of 80 km/h. As a ‘Did you know’fact: since the amusement park was inaugurated, no accident happened – but five people called it quits with their life by jumping off the extraordinary structure in the gambling city.
