Churchill Downs, the owner of the iconic horse race the Kentucky Derby and operator of around 11,000 slots and 200 gaming tables in eight states, is to open new facilities in its home state.
The company will launch its simulcast and historical racing machine operations at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming and Hotel in Kentucky, as from tomorrow.
The fresh casino venue from Oak Grove will have 1,325 HRMs with games from Ainsworth, Scientific Games and IGT, plus a restaurant, fast food outlets, café and sports bar. A second phase of the Oak Grove development will include the provision of a 128-room hotel, coming with an equestrian centre and amphitheatre.
Live harness racing will return to Oak Grove next month.
In July, Kentucky Derby owner Churchill Downs Inc has to shut down operations, at its Calder Casino in Miami Gardens, Florida, three weeks following its reopening, following an emergency order by the city in face of another rise in Covid-19 cases.
