Andorra is moving into the gambling business with the government planning to include legislation allowing for land-based casinos and online gambling.
A draft bill being prepared will propose both forms of gambling and also includes the method of allowing both local and overseas operators applying for licenses to operate in the principality.
Currently there is no mention by the government on taxes for operators in the draft proposal and if overseas operators need to be based within Andorra, but those are expected to be included by the finance ministry shortly.
Andorra is located in the eastern Pyrenees Mountains between Spain and France and it has a population of some 85,000.
Tourism is the main contributor to Andorra’s economy, with 10.2 million visitors annually.
It is also known for being a tax haven, which could be very interesting to operators.
