The elimination of the ceiling of 600 lei with 0 taxes for gambling revenues will have as an immediate effect the severe decrease of the activity of the operators, and even its obstruction, so that the state’s budget will automatically lack a source of revenues, the effect, thus, being contrary to the one intended by the authorities. The investors in the gambling sector appreciate that up to 40.000 employees will lose their jobs. Another consequence will be the massive migration of the players to the online gambling market, a field which is unregulated in Romania and which has no contribution to the state’s budget. This will mean the resuscitation of the black gambling market, directly connected to organized crime, according to the representatives of the Romanian Association of Gaming Organizers and Producers (AOPJNR). During the last year, the revenues at the state’s budget from authorization and licensing taxes exceeded 500 millions lei, according to AOPJNR.
