The most important event in the world of yachting, Monaco Yacht Show which was held in month September in the principality, awarded the Prize for Design for year 2010 (Prix du Design) to the sailboat Panthalassa, for the innovations displayed in terms of naval architecture and interior design.
The award winner was launched at the end of year 2009, as a revelation on the luxury yachts all around the world. A marvel of modern technology combined with the traditionalism of details, Panthalassa bears three famous signatures, being created by the famous English architect Norman Foster for Foster&Partners in partnership with Ron Holland Design and manufactured by Perini Navi. It thus became the 8th yacht in the 56-meter series of Perini Navi Group, but with a more aerodynamic profile than its “siblings”. Panthalassa features an aluminum structure and the materials used for its construction are tek wood, leather, silk, golden and black marble and granite. The vessel is propelled by two 1,239 HP diesel engines, which allows for a maximum speed of 15 knots.
No less than 12 guests can comfortably be accommodated in the 6 extremely luxurious cabins of Panthalassa, each having a dedicated bath and lounge. Guests are served by a crew made up of ten persons, specialists in various fields, from sports to beauty.
