Car manufacturers defy the crisis. The most important ones are launching the models of the future, always with higher performances and also “cleaner”.
THE NEW RANGE ROVER EVOQUE – A PREMIUM COMPACT SUV
Celebrating 40 years of existence, the British automobile manufacturer Land Rover launched on the first day of month July its new vehicle. The Range Rover Evoque. The materialization of the Land Rover LRX concept, announced in 2008 by the British, Evoque is a premium compact SUV, and announces to be the most efficient and stylish in the range. The new model is built on the Freelander platform and is equipped with a base 2.2 TD4 engine, with 185 BHP output. The model will be available both with 4WD and 2WD, and the 2×4 version of Evoque will release less then 130 of CO2/km, being for the first time that the British manage such a performance. “Today is a very special occasion for Range Rover, not just because we are celebrating 40 years of activity of the brand, but because, in this context, we are able to present a part of the future by showcasing the new Range Rover Evoque.
Range Rover is one of the most well-known vehicles in the auto industry and has had a permanent success since 1970, when it was launched. The new Range Rover Evoque is an important step to continue the success for the future and to increase the brand. Clients can be assured that the new car will be a premium, luxurious one and as special as other previous models of Range Rover. Its sportive aspect and unique qualities will open the path of the brand to a new category of clients who did not consider Range Rover before” stated Phil Popham, director of Land Rover, on the occasion of launching the new SUV. The new Range Rover Evoque will be built at the Halewood plant in Great Britain, helping create 1,000 new jobs. The official launch for the public will take place in the autumn of this year, at the Paris Auto Show (October 2nd-24th) and the vehicle will be present, starting with the summer of 2011, in all 160 countries where the British brand operates.
THE NEW VOLVO S60 – HI-TECH
“The most hi-tech Volvo in history”, as Volvo manufacturer praises it, the new S60 announces to be the most luxurious product that the Swedish throw at the market at this point, making for a genuine adversary for Mercedes C-Klass, Audi A4 and the new BMW, 3 Series. Officially presented in March 2010 at the Geneva Auto Show, the new Volvo S60 made its entrance on the Romanian market ever since month July, being available to the one interested at prices ranging between 30,345 Euros and 43,911 Euros. The new Swedish vehicle is available for Romanians in four versions of options: Standard, Kinetic, Momentum and Summum, with two diesel engines (a 2-liter, 164 HP, respectively 2.4- liter, 205 HP) and two gasoline engines (2-liter, 203 HP, respectively 3-liter, 304 HP). The standard options of the new Volvo S60 include advanced safety features such are the extremely useful system City Safety, a second generation, and the first system in the world for detecting pedestrians, both very impressive as performance in terms of avoiding accidents. Also as standard option you get automatic clime control, radio CD with six speakers, power mirrors and windows.
The design of the body respects the new trend of Volvo, with modern lines, but also keeping a lot of the S60 concept presented at the end of year 2008. On the inside, the manufacturer announces more space in the back and enlarged trunk access by approximately 10 cm. Furthermore, the materials and finishes on the inside prove to be better than the first generation and even than the S60 facelift.
