First of all, welcome to Romania! Is this your first visit here?
Yeah, this is my first visit here and I’ve had a blast. It’s actually been one the top places I’ve been so far. I’ve really enjoyed it, people are extremely nice, poker is great. I’ve been to four different casinos now and all of them are uniquely different and it’s amazing to me how they have all the food laid out, fantastic food… It’s all very comforting, very homey, if you will… The one thing I really like is that if you enter a casino here in Romania, is loud… people are always talking, which is good, because everybody’s having fun, everybody’s having a good time. In States, if you enter a poker room you can here a pin drop.
What do you think about the Romanian Poker Championship, about the contestants?
You know, poker is pretty new to Romania… Yesterday it was a pretty easy day.
Do you think this competition will bring Romania onto the poker world map?
I think this is already going, you know… First of all, there’s a mass number of Romanian players on PokerStars now that play. Every casino has a poker room here and actually the poker is going here. I talked to people from Germany that I’ve played with since I’m here, and they said the games here are phenomenal. Romania is already known for having good games.
What is the best and the worst about being a poker player?
The best by far is the money and the freedom that you get. I get to play when I want to play, I get to travel and see the world. I mean this is the greatest job in the world, it’s incredible! The worst thing by far is the travel. You got to be away from the kids, away from the family… And then, the money! You know, this is the only job I know of that you can go to job and lose. My wife doesn’t want to know that kind of stuff, like the moment when I lost 20.000. It doesn’t matter if I won 30.000 the day before, she can’t know that kind of stuff. I don’t need to tell her, it’s not something she wants to know. It’s a great job, but it’s also a stressful job at times. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
