During a full-scale world financial crisis, Las Vegas does not give up and comes along with an absolute novelty on the gambling market – Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Luxury, innovative design, state of the art technology, modern art, all in one place in the new giant construction entitled Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Cosmopolitan opened its doors on December 15th, thus being the only casino to be opened in 2010 in Vegas and, according to the specialists in the field, the last of such proportions, at least for the near future.
PROPERTY OF DEUTSCHE BANK
The new construction, located to the west of the famous The Strip, between the properties of MGM Bellagio and City Center, features 2,995 rooms, 3 open-air swimming pools, spa, shopping areas, 13 restaurants, night clubs, bars and lounges and cost 3.9 billion dollars, a sum which in order to be covered will require a lot of marketing efforts and dedication. However, Cosmopolitan was born under good auspices, its owner being no other than Deutsche Bank. Cosmo thus became the last casino in Vegas to benefit from complete financing and one obtained in the best of conditions.
LAUNCH WITH SOLD-OUT TICKETS
The grand evening of the opening made it nearly impossible to find a free spot at the tables in the casino or in the other bars and lounges of the resort. John Unwin, the CEO of Cosmopolitan, together with other executives counted the seconds to the opening of the resort, in the company of some selected players, around a table of Craps, the place where was placed the first bet at Cosmo. The competition was also present at the last grand event of the year in Vegas. Thus, at the opening participated Steve Wynn from Wynn Resorts, Jim Murren, CEO of MGM Resorts and the chairman of City Center, Bobby Baldwin. Moreover, the Mayor of Vegas and his wife were present at the opening. “We are once more bringing some glamour to Vegas” said Unwin, former general manager of Caesars Palace, currently CEO at Cosmopolitan. Unwin says about Cosmopolitan that it is elegant but with no exaggerated standards, a resort built for curious people, creative tourists who like foreign cuisine, art and new experiences. Truth is that next to City Center, Bellagio, Wynn or Venetian, Cosmopolitan comes to fulfill the choice of alternatives addressed to wealthy people, keen on luxury and extravagant vacations.
NEW CHALLENGES
The casino brings by a new, totally different experience, both with regard to design and to details, art and design holding a privileged position in the entire resort. The interior design of the resort was made by Friedmutter Group, Rockwell Group, Jeffrey Beers, Adam Tihany and Bentel& Bentel.
A new and appealing element for the players who first set foot in the casino of Cosmopolitan is the immense chandelier, The Chandelier Bar, situated right at the heart of the casino. An immense bar made up by three floors and constructed from more than 2 million crystals spreads light, without robbing the place of its intimacy. The casino is divided in special booths, also flooded with light, making for a special gaming experience. Here too hundreds of crystals and jewelry curtains constitute genuine landmarks in the concept of the design. In a space covering more than 7,000 square meters, the casino offers to gambling enthusiasts the classical Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Let it Ride, Baccarat, Fortune Pai Gow Poker, 3- card Poker, Ultimate Texas Holdāem, Crazy 4 Poker, Spanish 21 as well as the popular slotmachines, in a large variety (1,478 slots) with stakes from 0.01 dollars to 500 dollars. Apart from the grand opening, the owners of Cosmopolitan also had a surprise for guests for the night in between the years. The night passing into the New Year 2011 at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas was animated by an exclusive concert put on by rapper Jay-Z and by the band Coldplay, for which they received 1 million dollars each.
